Question: How can I make a backup
of my CHAPS data?
Answer: The answer to this depends completely
on the type of computer equipment you have. To make a complete backup,
only the file named "chaps.mdb" needs to be saved.
- If you have a writeable CD-ROM, you can create a backup of
your files by saving them to CD.
- If you have a ZIP drive, you can create a backup by saving
your files on your ZIP disk. This is a special drive that is included
as hardware with your computer and requires special disks, either 100
mb or 250 mb one of which is pictured below.

- If you have only a 3 1/2" floppy drive, you can still
backup your data. However, if the chaps.mdb file is larger that
1.44 mb in size, it will have to be compressed to be able to fit on
a disk. The most effective way to compress files is with a program called
WINZIP.
You can download an evaluation copy of this program from the Internet
by accessing this site: www.winzip.com.
Click here for step by step instruction
on how to download the program and install it on your computer.
Once WinZip has been installed you can easily compress file/files to
be saved.
Follow the steps below to save your chaps data.
- Locate the chaps.mdb file in your CHAPS directory. (It is located
on your "C" drive, under Program Files folder, and then under
the CHAPS folder).
- Right click on the chaps.mdb file.
- Move your mouse down to the "WinZip" option and hilight.
This will open a flyout box.
- Choose "Add to Zip File" from this flyout box. This will
start the WinZip program.

- Click on "I Agree" to start the program.

- If you are saving the file to a floppy disk, specify the drive letter
in the "Add to Archive" box. As shown below, we are saving
our file to the A: drive and creating a folder named "backup".
- Click on "Add" to complete the save and compression of the
file.

- After the compression is complete, you will see a screen similar to
the one below. Your "chaps.mdb" file is now zipped and has
been saved onto a disk.
