CALF FILES:  File: Open: Calves or click on and choose Calves.

A smaller box will appear.  The heading on top of this box will indicate the active herd and may not be the same as the default herd.  The correct herd must be chosen to both boxes indicate the same herd.  On the bottom of the box, the Starting Birthdate and Ending Birthdate must be manually entered in the form MN/DA/YEAR (Ex. 08/15/1998).  Think carefully before entering any dates as the program generates reports according to these dates.

The five options on the right side of the box are:

Add Addition of a new calf.
Edit Editing of an existing calf.
Delete Deletion of an existing record.
Cancel Will cancel out of the box without any changes being made.
Change Herd Will change the default herd.

Add and Edit will bring up a window with six tabs--Birth, Wean, Background, Replacement, Feedlot, and Carcass.

The "Birth" tab is activated simply by entering information into the various fields.

To activate the remaining tabs, place a checkmark in the "Status" box and enter information. (see below)

Some of the data entered in previous tabs can be transferred over to another tab by clicking the "Default" button in the lower left-hand corner.

After entering information into the "Weaning" tab, users are advised to click the "Apply" button to bring up the calculations when applicable.  Also, on the Weaning tab, the "Edit" button will activate the Calculated Data box and allow for editing. (see below)

COW FILES:  File: Open: Calves or click on and choose Cows.

A smaller box will appear.  The heading on top of this box will indicate the active herd and may not be the same as the default herd.

The five options on the right side of the box are:

Add Addition of a new calf.
Edit Editing of an existing calf.
Delete Deletion of an existing record.
Cancel Will cancel out of the box without any changes being made.
Change Herd Will change the default herd.

On the bottom of the box will be three options. 

Active Refers to an active cow in the herd.  "Active" is a cow that has a calf or is currently pregnant.
Culled Refers to the culled cows from the herd.
Pedigree Refers to a cow that is part of a pedigree within the herd, usually listed with a previous or current sire.
